Urban Chicken
02:40
|
|||
I look high, you look low
You from the sun and I'm from the snow
They said we could stay and raise a family
But the farm's been sold so we're just dead money
I squeeze you and you squeeze me
The new pad's smaller but the TV's free
The helping hand only helps himself
So we gave away the kids I think they live with someone else
Move to the city, they say it's nice
Now I'm an urban chicken with an urban life
Water's free but it's running out
Too many chicken drinking from the chicken spout
The axe says live but I'll have to borrow
Gotta give up my egg if I want to see tomorrow
Move downtown they say there's a view
Now I'm an urban chicken in the urban zoo
Rooster representative no longer calls
They said he don't like squawking since they shaved his claws
Machine many apology plays on a loop
Now I'm an urban chicken in the urban soup
Make the change and I finally see that
I'm an urban chicken I don't want to be

Dirty Water
02:56
|
|||
Wash my hands and I brush my teeth
Store bought store thought stored beneath
What do you use?
What you
Use goes down the drain and gives you dirty water
Paint my fence and I paint my view
Stream to the street to the river runs through
What do you use?
What you
Use can leave a stain and give you dirty water
So we linked the land and we split the sea
Now the candy man's selling purity
What do you use?
What you
Use can change your brain when your drinking dirty water

Stone House
04:09
|
|||
Give me a stone house and all my neighbors sand
Walls become my windows as I take whatever I can
Give me a stone love to wrap around my heart
Take it always with me never will I let us part
Give me a stone dream so I can crawl inside
Carve out my existence where forever I will hide
Give me a stone tongue for my bird will not sing
Through the winds of words divided confusion they bring
Give me a stone day to keep my thoughts of when
Lost on all tomorrows that I never will depend
Give me a stone world and shoot me to the moon
Break apart the tides that bring together all our doom

The Toad
04:30
|
|||
Is it where you are when you run away?
Living in the womb of the road
Is it where you be with your overcoat?
Underneath the sea of a dream
In the night with your photographic eye
You can see the world
Remember when of spring is that where you've gone?
Through the ghost machine of the toad
Could you send a star from your picture book?
A seed along the way
For I know from the light of the stone upon your eyes
How you see the world

Home Again
02:37
|
|||
Floodplain jumper coming out of the sky
Seemed real nice but he got to high
Last of the breeze I could hear the cry of home again
Sidewalk chalk can't contain
The last hope loving coming out of his brain
Take my time I can read the stain of home again
Cause I'm thinking about giving it up
But the look caught in his eye is full of sun
And if his daddy found out maybe he'd forgiven what went wrong
To dumb to work to old to try
Dreams ain't coming guess it's time to die
But my answer is falling from polluted skies of home again
You turn to me and I refuse
Change with the times baby what's the use?
Can't you see these are words refused of home again
So I'm thinking about living it up
Cause the look caught in your eye is full of fun
And if my daddy found out maybe he'd forgive what we've become
While the freeways are jammed full of lonely rooms
The children try and jump the moon
But for this one here pretty lights untuned of home again
For in this world of mixed concrete
Of plastic houses on a dead end street
I miss the earth underneath my feet of home again

Goat
03:02
|
|||
I'm a goat with just one horn
And my nose caught in the fence
Can't see what's in front of me but here it don't make sense
I'm a goat with just one mind
And a wicked one it's not
Two horns make the difference
And I guess one's just forgot
I'm a goat with wild eyes
And they sing out when I laugh
I'm a goat with just one horn
And a fence caught in my path
And all the years they come and go
But feel the same
When you showed me love
But you closed the door of a different name
Now I'm stuck here on the farm
Looking for a hole
Doesn't really matter where I go

Little Tree
03:13
|
|||
Oh forgotten home standing all alone
There's a little tree that just like me
Country folk from the farm
Grandpa's in the barn staying young
Mom and dad where good so they kept their wood
And they had some kids
And their world grew big and loud
Then one day the machine
Took control of the dream of freedom
And the family tree gave birth to me
And my neighborhood
Give me more it could
Till the oil like gold
From the trees very old
Couldn't run no more so they closed the door
On the way before
And left a little tree that's just like me

Redbird
I heard
Nights you're all alone
Where are you going home?
Golden
Days young
Now you want to roam
Where are you going home?
Where are you going home?
Redbird
Sad word
Secrets never known
Where are you going home?
Where are you going home?
Where are you going home?

Catfish
03:23
|
|||
Poor little Catfish when we're away
Do you work or do you play?
Or are you sleeping all through the day?
Waiting till we get home
Poor little Catfish sitting around
Looking through the window as the world goes down
Wondering what are we doing in this town?
Waiting till we get home
Singing la la la la la la
La la la la la la
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Poor little Catfish cool not the floor
Takes his kiss and wants some more
Then into the night with a hop out the door
Now that we are home
Then calls to wake with a scream and a cry
But four in the morning ain't no alibi
Well he makes the rules and that's no lie
Now that we are home
Poor little Catfish deep in a song
Plays the piano with two paws drawn
Singing about what it's like when we're gone
